Job Description
• Provide continuous, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with multisystem organ failure, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac instability, renal failure, neurological compromise, and other acute medical conditions. • Conduct detailed head-to-toe and focused assessments; analyse trends in vital signs, laboratory values, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic parameters. • Identify subtle and acute changes in patient condition and initiate timely nursing and medical interventions. • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs and clinical priorities. • Manage and titrate high-risk medications, including vasoactive drips, sedatives, analgesics, insulin infusions, and anticoagulants. • Provide care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and advanced airway management. • Monitor and manage invasive lines and devices, including arterial lines, central venous catheters, PICC lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and urinary catheters. • Assist with bedside procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. • Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, CRRT (if applicable), and point-of-care testing devices. • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, shock, and acute neurological changes. • Actively participate in Code Blue, Rapid Response, and trauma or medical emergency situations. • Collaborate closely with intensivists, residents, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, physical therapists, and social workers • Communicate patient status, clinical changes, and care plans effectively during rounds, handoffs, and interdisciplinary meetings. • Advocate for patient needs and safety within the healthcare team. • Provide emotional support and clear, compassionate communication to patients and families during critical illness • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and expected outcomes. • Participate in end-of-life care, ethical decision-making discussions, and palliative care interventions when appropriate. • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. • Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols, medication safety standards, and hospital policiesLocation
