Job Description – EMR Manager Position Details Position Summary The EMR Manager is responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system across the hospital network. The role ensures effective EMR adoption, clinical workflow alignment, user training, compliance with regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of digital healthcare initiatives. The EMR Manager acts as a bridge between clinical teams, operations, and IT teams to ensure the EMR system supports patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational goals. Key Responsibilities EMR Operations & Support Manage day-to-day EMR operations across all hospital units. Ensure high availability and performance of the EMR application. Coordinate with application vendors for issue resolution and enhancements. Monitor EMR incidents, service requests, and system performance. Ensure timely closure of application-related tickets within defined SLAs. Clinical Workflow Management Understand and optimize clinical workflows within the EMR. Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to improve system utilization. Analyze workflow gaps and recommend process improvements. Support implementation of new clinical modules and functionality. Project Management Lead EMR implementation, upgrade, migration, and enhancement projects. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Manage project plans, timelines, risks, and deliverables. Ensure successful deployment and adoption of new features. User Training & Adoption Develop and conduct training programs for clinical and non-clinical users. Create user manuals, SOPs, quick reference guides, and training materials. Drive EMR adoption initiatives across all departments. Monitor usage patterns and identify areas requiring additional training. Master Data Management Oversee clinical master data maintenance. Ensure accuracy of templates, forms, clinical documentation, and workflows. Coordinate updates to specialty-specific documentation requirements. Reporting & Analytics Generate and analyze EMR utilization reports. Track key performance indicators (KPIs). Monitor physician adoption and documentation compliance. Support management reporting and decision-making through EMR analytics. Technical Skills Strong understanding of EMR/EHR systems. Knowledge of Hospital Information Systems (HIS). Understanding of healthcare workflows. Experience with clinical documentation systems. Understanding of healthcare data privacy and security requirements. Basic knowledge of databases and reporting tools. Preferred Experience Experience in EMR implementation or support in a multi-specialty hospital. Experience managing doctor adoption and change management initiatives. Exposure to digital transformation projects in healthcare. Experience with NABH and accreditation requirements.
